"Historian" David Barton Laments Increasing Secularization of "Sacred" Independence Day

Aledo, TX -  David Barton, the self-made historian and political pundit and founder of Wallbuilders, took to his organization's website July 1st to lament the "ongoing and escalating war on Independence Day" by the "godless, globalist left."

Said Barton in a lengthy blog post, "What you see today is a concerted, United effort by the liberal machine to destroy the sacred nature of Independence Day. From mindless blockbuster's that hijack the term 'Independence Day'  and attach to alien conspiracies, to the brainwashing measures of our public school system that teach our children the Declaration was signed on July 4th (scholars like myself know that it was REALLY signed the 2nd), there is an all-out assault against the sacred, God-ordained Independence Day holiday."

Barton further elaborated on importance of keeping "(de)pendence (on God)" in "Independence Day" and drew attention to the fact that no stores wish you "Happy Independence Day" anymore, but instead use the much more secular-friendly and politically correct term "Have a great 4th of July."

"It's a War on Independence Day," he declared. "First they came for Christmas, now this! They're making about fireworks and hot-dogs instead of about freedom and sacred callings!"

Barton ended his post by calling on his readers to boycott stores that refused to say "Happy Independence Day" and celebrate on the 2nd of July instead of the 4th.
