Part X - Stewardship and Cooperation
We are persuaded that we are stewards.
That we, as members of the church of God,
And servants of the will of God
Ought also to hold ourselves to be stewards of the resources of God,
Meaning that we hold all our belongings
Blessings, both temporal and spiritual,
And earthly possessions
Are owned by the God who saved us
And calls us His own.
Because of this, we are persuaded,
That we must recognize that our blessings are not given to us primarily for our comfort
But for the advancement and proclamation of the Kingdom of God.
Therefore giving of our means to the church and to charity is not simply something we can do
Or should do
But that we must do.
For we are persuaded that the generous benevolence of God
Demands and enables a generous benevolence among his people.
We are persuaded that we ought to unite with our fellow Gospel bearers in our giving
In our work
In our efforts
In our proliferation of the Gospel
through the for formation of ministries
So that our work might be more effective
Our fellowship might be more enriched
And our witness might be more beautiful.
All that we have and all that we are
Belongs to God
Therefore we ought to steward it as individuals
And as corporate bodies of believers
So that the Gospel might be ever evident
And ever proclaimed
In us and through us.
Of this we are persuaded.
