Part III - Man

Part III - Man

Man is unique in creation,
of this we are persuaded.

The special creative work of God,
man was formed by God’s hand,
filled with God’s breath,
and marked with God’s indelible image.

The crown of creation,
man was created to rule over creation,
to commune with God,
and enjoy Him forever.

Man was made male and female,
of this we are persuaded.

To be born a male is to be bear the image of God.
To be born a female is to bear the image of God.
But God’s image is most clearly seen
when men and women work alongside each other
encouraging one another
complementing one another
and abiding in mutual respect of their fellow image-bearers.

Man is fallen,
of this we are persuaded.

It was by man’s free choice that he sinned,
damning his soul,
corrupting creation,
and severing fellowship with God.

The divine image that we bear no longer guides us.
It is concealed by our sins,
hidden by our iniquities,
and stifled be our transgressions.

But it is not dormant.
It awaits the quickening power of the Holy Spirit,
given by grace,
offered through faith,
which alone has the power to raise us up again.

Man is the crown of creation,
the cursed of creation,
but also the vessel of God’s great salvation.

Of this we are persuaded.
